How to view Vector Plot of Secondary Flow in Post?
 
Hi,

I'm hoping to investigate the secondary flow at a particular plane of my domain. However, I can't find the variable tangential Velocity, Vtheta for the vector plot in the Post 5.7. I use the cyclindrical vel components as inlet bc. Can anyone please tell me how to look at the tangential velocity component in Post? I only find Vx, Vy, Yz.... How to view Vtheta, Vr & Vaxial? Thanks a lot, Dan.

I just know when you creat a vector at the plane you specify, you can choose the vector projection parrmeter(none, tangential or normal on the plane) in this vector pop-up menu. if that's what you need?

I have a project about it, until now i know that have to choose "tangential" in the vector part to viwe it? but i dont know if it is correct or not? also i want to know how much the wall can affect the secondary flow in the open channels(being small or big dimention of channel)?

Dear colleagues,

I would need the tangent component of velocity along a 3D circular arc surface.

Does anyone know how to get the tangent velocity as a variable and not necessarily presented as a vector plot?

I am not sure the circumferential velocity variable calculated by the Turbo Post (in my case omega=0) can be considered as a reasonably good approximation of the tangent velocity.

You can define a variable in CFD-Post to be any function you like - so you can do the transformation into a tangential velocity about any axis you want. Also consider a local frame of reference, that may make things easier.
