cluster Xeon

1) What is the upper limit on number of cells if I use 6-processors cluster on Linux?

2) If the head machine is Itanium and other machines are Xeons?

I think the maximum number of grid elements have more thing to do with the total amount of memory than CPU.

Hi,

There is a new technical tip on the CFX community site discussing this very issue.

Re: cluster Xeon

Is there any difference between Xeon whith 2Mb cache and 512Kb?

Re: cluster Xeon

Hi,

Yes, in some benchmarking I have seen it appears cache size is important for solver speed. The 2Mb cache computer will run significantly faster than the 512kb one.

Re: cluster Xeon

Ok, but what about the maximum number of cells in such cases?

Re: cluster Xeon

Hi,

The maximum number of elements you can run is dependant on how much ram you have, operating system limitations and how many machines you can run in parallel. CPU cache size does not affect maximum simulation size.
