ICEMCFD 5.1 -> CFX 5.7.1

Hi,

I'm totaly new to CFX.

I created a hexahedral mesh in ICEMCFD 5.1 (AI Environment). Now I need somehow to convert my mesh to CFX-5 GTM file or something CFX-Pre can read. When I select CFX5 solver in ICEMCFD and do mesh export, CFX-Pre can't read it. Why? How to do that correctly?

Hi,

There could be many causes of the problem, but a common one is that the shell and volume elements are in the same part. Shell and volume elements must be seperate parts.

Hi,

Thanks for answer.

Anyway. What export format should I use in ICEMCFD? And what import format in CFX? Could you describe this in more detail?

In CFX you have to choose ICEM CFD format (export mesh from ICEM in CFX-5 format).

ICEM won't write a GTM file, rather ICEM exports its own format to CFX5. In Pre, you drop down the import window, select ICEM and look for the file that you wrote.

For convenience I tend to name my files MODEL.hex. The file extension is not important.

Cheers,
