monitor areAve for a plane in solver

Hi everybody!

I need to monitor the average temperature on a plane in the solver. But from Pre I noticed that is it posible only to use the areAve function only for the boundary conditions and domains created. My plane is not definded in Pre.

Any ideas? caty

Hi,

To do it in the solver you have to define some sort of boundary patch at that point. If you split your mesh at that plane and join it with a 1:1 interface you can do calculations on the interface. Note it will slightly increase your simulation time but for a 1:1 interface the increase is very small.

Alternately you can do it in CFX-Post in post-processing.

How can I split the mesh?? Only in the meshing software or i can do it in Pre as well?

Hi,

Splitting the mesh must be done in the meshing software. CFX-Pre cannot do anything with the mesh, except simple transformations such as translations, scaling, rotations.
