Timestep for transient simulation

Hi, I'm modeling a "bubble column" (by CFX5.6) and running a transient simulation (steady state didn't work) I have almost 200,000 elements and I'm using 0.05 s, timesteps, the residual curves are not smooth and after 200 time steps, the imbalace eqs. aren't converged, yet! so, I guess my timestep 0.05s is very small. (there are almost 8 loop iterations for each timestep) so, am I on the right track or shall I make some changes?!? would appreciate any comments...

regards, houman

Hi,

What are you trying to do? 8 iterations per timestep for a multi-phase simulation is fairly normal.

Hi Glenn, Many thanks for your reply, you are right, I am working on a two phase simulation (gas & water). so I don't have to worry about it :) Regards, Houman
