Flow Through Porous media
Dear CFX users,
I am trying to simulate 2D axissymmetric flow (TWOPHASE) through a 8mm thick perforated plate (model as a porous media) using CFX4.4. The volume porosity is 0.25. The plate has 360 holes (250mm diameter). I would like to know how to calculate the following terms for CFX 4.4 command file. BODY FORCE, RESISTANCE CONSTANT and RESISTANCE SPEED FACTOR Thanks for help Regards, Kumar
Re: Flow Through Porous media
Hi,
there are correlations and experimental results available. You could use a modified Ergun equation (which is for packed spheres given a specified porosity) or find something more appropriate in a reference such as: Handbook of Hydraulic Resistance, Third Edition by Idelchik regards, Bak_Flow

Re: Flow Through Porous media
Thank Bak_Flow I got the flow resistance for the plate K= 20(non dimensional) from Miller book, but I want the value for RESISTANCE CONSTANT (kg/m^3) and RESISTANCE SPEED FACTOR( kg/m^4).
