Flow Through Porous media

Dear CFX users,

I am trying to simulate 2-D axis-symmetric flow (TWO-PHASE) through a 8mm thick perforated plate (model as a porous media) using CFX4.4. The volume porosity is 0.25. The plate has 360 holes (250mm diameter). I would like to know how to calculate the following terms for CFX 4.4 command file.

BODY FORCE, RESISTANCE CONSTANT and RESISTANCE SPEED FACTOR

Thanks for help Regards, Kumar

Hi,

there are correlations and experimental results available. You could use a modified Ergun equation (which is for packed spheres given a specified porosity) or find something more appropriate in a reference such as:

Handbook of Hydraulic Resistance, Third Edition by Idelchik

Thank Bak_Flow I got the flow resistance for the plate K= 20(non dimensional) from Miller book, but I want the value for RESISTANCE CONSTANT (kg/m^3) and RESISTANCE SPEED FACTOR( kg/m^4).

Regards, Kumar
