CFX mesh generation techniques

Any advice on how to create schemes for meshing 2d and 3d surfaces using mapping, triangular and quadrilateral mesh elements? How can you get the grid points to cluster at walls (ie boundaries)

If this is really obvious, just point me in the right direction.....

Hi,

You do not need to create meshing schemes as many mesh generation packages already exist which allow tri and quad meshes with clustering at walls. CFX comes with ANSYS Workbench and/or ICEM for its meshing, and can import meshes from just about any other mesh generation package.

Both ANSYS WB and ICEM can be used to generate 2D meshes suitable for CFX. Note the 2D mesh needs to be extruded into a single element thick 3D mesh for the CFX solver.

Unless of course you wish to write your own meshing code, and in that case you are a little off-topic here in CFX land.

Thanks for that - that helps me tell the wood from the trees with the cfx notes I have been looking at online! Which particular website on the cfx website would help me with this part of things? Cheers MJ

Hi,

Look on the ANSYS website for the CFX meshing packages - ANSYS Workbench and ICEM CAD2MESH.

Hi How can we generate mesh in ANSYS enviromenet and export that to CFX software
