Available memory is less than 2GB in CFX 5.7.1

Hi guys!

I understand about troubles having more 2 GB RAM for CFX under WinXP. Nevertheless, it was about 1.3-1.4GB RAM when CFX works well, if it needs more memory it shows the memory allocation error. The /3GB key in BOOT.ini did not help. More over - with /3GB key CFX pre/post fail! Could anybody explain why I can't use even 2 GB? CFX 5.7.1, WinXP pro, 2GB RAM P4

Thank you in advance!

There is a write up on this at the CFX Community web site. It has to do with the way Windows loads up dll's. Try using Linux instead, you can probably get up to 1.9Gb or so out of the 2Gb, that has been my experience, of course I don't turn on anything I don't need during my simulations.

Hi,

The /3GB switch has not been enabled in CFX so CFX cannot use the additional memory. The only way to access more than 1.3GB memory for CFX on Windows is to install at least 3GB in the machine, then you should be able to get 1.8-1.9GB for CFX.

Actually, support for the /3GB switch is enabled in the 5.7.1 service pack.

Maximum allocatable ram will still be about 1.7 GB, rather than 2 GB though. Again due to the DLL issues described on the community web site.
