you seems to be master in cfx . please help me in modeling and meshing of stator rotor in workbench 9.0 i will be grateful to u always. it is my project for my thesis.

Hi Paras,

I'm honoured - but I am no master, there are a lot of people who know a lot more about CFD than me. I'm just a noisy one who posts on CFX forums.

My advice for people new to CFD is to 1) Do the tutorials included in CFX and Workbench. 2) Do a training course. 3) Do some background reading into CFD methods in general. 4) Discuss problem issues with experienced users or CFX support.

There are examples on rotor/stator simulations included with CFX, and they do plenty of training courses - try to get along to one. Also note that academic licenses of CFX only have limited access to support, so work through things as much as you can with your supervisor before contacting CFX support if you are on a academic license.

glan thanx for elaborated response. i have done all tutorials of cfx5.7.1 and workbench 9.0. and my problem is to create modeling for stator and rotor. as in tutorial we do directly by importing rotor.grid and stator .def. so how i, myself can create these geometry file.

If i am allowed to answer too as this post was for Glan :).

Any way..... we use CFX-BladeGen to create Turbo Geometry, which should be later on imported to ICEMCFD to create mesh and from there onwards you can follow up the Tutorial available in CFX.

Aziz thanx 4 it. a gentlemen step. but here is a prob i dont have cfx blade gen. can i do it in work bench. or can i get blade gen.

I think you can get a Demo version of BladeGen, Ask CFX support for that. infact one should be able to create any geometry with any CAD software but using BladeGen make it possible to create Turbo Geometry quite easily.

I recommend you to get in touch with CFX Support to get a DEMO version so that you have a better felling with a software.

Hi Para,

As Aziz says, BladeGen is a package specifically designed for generating blade geometries and meshes. ICEM is a general purpose meshing package and has no blade-specific capabilities. If your blade geometry is simple you might be able to draw and mesh it in ICEM, but if it is a complicated shape (as most efficient blades are) then BladeGen is by far the best way.
