Flat Plate Transition Test Case

I'm currently studying the cfx transition model using the Coupland / ERCOFTAC T3A/B/C flat plate test case. Has anyone else used this test case? No matter what I do, I always have a separation bubble just after the leading edge, which is not the case physically.

If you have any suggestions to resolve this problem, I would love to hear from you.

Regards

Adam

Re: Flat Plate Transition Test Case

Hey Adam,

I am working on a similar thing, right now. I have just created the flat plate and the next days I will run some simulations and try to find the transition point, too.

Regarding your problem, do you have any edges or corners at the tip of your plate? This would definitely cause instant turbulence. Is your area before the plate inviscid and the plate itself viscid? A sudden change of surface properties might cause turbulence.
