Obtaining forces from Transient Results
 

Hello, I just completed a transient simulation on a wing that took a long time. I just realised that I messed up on the monitor points, my axis are z-up,x-longit and Y transverse or into the page, when I wanted force_x()@Wing I wrote force_y()@wing instead, now the problem is I need this forces over the simulation time, is there a way in CFX-Post I can have the right forces exported over time ? I will appreciate any help. Thanks

Hi,

For any transient results files you generated as the simulation progressed you can calculate CEL functions in CFX Post and will be able to get the forces (Provided the required variables are in the transient results file). If you did not save any transient results files then the information is lost, you will have to rerun the simulation.

Thanks Glenn, I do have transient result files, but I set the option to minimal and then the variables I would like to see, is this what you mean ? how do I check if those forces are there ? any guidance on writing CEL? have never done one b4

Hi,

You don't need to write a CEL expression as long as it is a simple function. You can calculate the basic functions directly using the tools/function calculator.

To get a force acting on the body the calculator will need pressure (for pressure forces) and wall shear (for viscous forces) in the transient results file. If it is not present in the file then it will not be able to calculate it.
