Turbulence model

Hi friends,

I am solving one tank flow problem, pipe connected to the tank(cuboidal shape - like room).

I am solving for inlet Re in Laminar region (range 220 to 1350). The flow behavior is of SUDDEN EXPANSION FROM small inlet to large tank.

I tried with Laminar model, for coarser as well as fine mesh, but it ends up with some error, mostly FINEMESS. Even if i get the results, those are not well converged and are unrealistic. When I use the 'k-e' model then it gives some results but i am not sure because i donot have any benchmarking/experimental results for this type of flow.

So question is can we believe on use of k-e model? Any suggestions for analysing the results QUALITATIVELY?

Hoping for good reply Tuks
