ICEM Blocking stability?

Is it only the machine I am working on, or is the "Split Block by prescribed point" functionality in ICEM 10 extremely buggy? It seems the first op in a session is alway OK, but then you have to restart ICEM for the next one...

Re: ICEM Blocking stability?

Hi,

Yes, I agree - ICEM is buggy. The current release is much better than previous ones, but still it is quite buggy. However before people get hot under the collar about that, bear in mind that I am yet to find a meshing software which is not buggy. IMHO ICEM is one of the better and more reliable ones.

The best way to help is to report the bug to CFX and hopefully it can get fixed.

I have used "Split Block by prescribed point" in ICEM CFD 10 quit a lot without too much trouble. Does your problem happens all the time when you use that function?

Re: ICEM Blocking stability?

I have problems like this when my model gets complicated and the ORFN blocks get "tangled". If you delete the ORFN blocks (checking the box for permanent deletion), ICEM will rebuild the halo of ORFN blocks around your block structure.

Turn all parts off except ORFN. Select Delete Blocks. Check "permanent deletion" Select all the ORFN blocks on the screen and Apply.

I suggest saving everything to a new project before doing anything like this.
