Average values

Hi all,

I have some problems with postprocessing (Ansys-CFX). I get velocity, pressure and pressure coefficient distribution, but I would like to get average value on area (surface integral on area divided by area). I know that is possible in Ansys, but my problem is how to create surface on which the result will be averaged.

Is it possible to use areas, which were defined in preprocessor? How can I averagize result on picked area?

Thanks,

Robert

Re: Average values

Is your "surface" a "plane" or a portion of your "boudary surface"? If it's a plane, just use create plane and use the calculator to get the area-averaged value.

Re: Average values

Hi TB.

The areas on which I would like to get average pressure distribution are determine an object with a difficult shape (there is an area which looks like a part of circle which is extruded with nonzero angle). I donīt know that is possible get averaged value on this surface yust picking an area, than averagize result on area?

Thanks,

Robert

Re: Average values

As long as you define it as a boundary surface, I don't see the problem getting area-averaged value.

If I wish to get area averaged value for a particular surface, I will define a new boundary name when I mesh the geometry (or new "part" in ICEM...rather than a single part for all surfaces). Play around with the geometry tools in post & see if you can find something useful.... Post doesn't offer much options anyway. Good luck.
