Error about import mesh from CFD to CFX
Dear all,
I got a problem on mesh generation in ICEM CFD 5.1-CFX. For creating geometry, i used Solidwork 2005 and saved it as Step file. After importing geometry to ICEM CFD 5.1-CFX, i created parts such as inlet, outlet. I generated the mesh successfully. Then i wrote output and named as xxx.msh file. Exiting ANSYS ICEM CFD-CFX and starting CFX-Pre. When importing the mesh, it said there is a error. I don't know why?? Or it may be wrong for me to use Solidwork? Please help me!! Stephen |
Re: Error about import mesh from CFD to CFX
There should be no problem with using solid works. What is the error message and how is the grid quality?

Re: Error about import mesh from CFD to CFX
How could anyone help if you don't tell us the error message? Make sure you have checked your mesh (under "Edit Mesh") and its quality before you write your mesh file. If you generate your mesh successfully, you should get a *.uns file when you save your project.

Re: Error about import mesh from CFD to CFX
Hi,
I bet the problem is the import format in CFX-Pre. When you import the mesh in CFX-Pre from ICEM CFD you need to specify the format as "ICEM". Regards, Glenn Horrocks |
Re: Error about import mesh from CFD to CFX
The error is: " ERROR The file named "gtm.gmo" does not exist.
Unable to import the requested mesh: Type ="Generic". File ="c:/xxx.msh". Generic options="-n". Specific option=::. |
Re: Error about import mesh from CFD to CFX
Hi...Have you chosen Output Solver to be ANSYS CFX? It seems to me that *.gmo is not ICEM to CFX format.

It works fine with xp, but when i upgrade the system to vista this problem happen>
Can anyone know how to solve it? thanks,, Hung |
take a look at the directory path
Well, if it still helps anyone after 2 years, I have just had the same problem but with a correct .cfx5 mesh file and stuff. The problem was that my directory path contained an accent character, which turns out, is unacceptable for CFX-Pre. Apparently spaces are not welcome as well.
Problem solved for me. :) |
I met the same problem. Thank you rosswell. It still helps. :)
