Do we have the option of imposing rolational velocity components to a deforming mesh? I can find just x,y and z components in 'Edit Boundary>Mesh Motion' panel.

Hi,

With deforming mesh you have to specify the incremental deformation or the absolute location of every node. You need to write a function which describes the motion of every node as a x/y/z deformation or position.

In my problem a block floats in water contained in a tank. Due to sloshing force the block translates and rotates. I was earlier using Fluent, and was able to simulate this problem using 6DOF feature.

How do I solve this problem in CFX-10 ? Will I have to write a CEL function or a fortran routine to specify the rotational (with translational) motion ? Can you guide me..

Hi,

You will need to generate equations of motion for the nodes on the surface which give the new node positions as a function of the original node position and the block translation and rotation.

Have a look at the mesh deformation example with CFX.

It also sounds like you are new to moving mesh in CFX, so start off by doing simpler things like a piston compressing a cylinder with moving mesh. When you can run that confidently start thinking about your more complicated 6DOF case.
