How to distribute no. of CPUs among parallel jobs?

Hello guys..... I'm a bit confused about how to make full use of the CFX license that we have for the current job. We have 4 parallel licenses, 4 unlimited licenses and 20 limited licenses in the server. Our gear is SGI machine that consists of 32 itanium Pentium chips. From my understanding, when running a parallel job, we need to assign 1 license for each CPU.

My problem currently used about 1.3million nodes. Should I assign more CPUs for each job to reduce no. of nodes per partition so that I can use limited licenses for the run as well?

Thank you for your inputs here.

Hi,

Why don't you just try it and find out? It will probably work nicely.

To run a parallel job, you need a single acfx_solver, a single acfx_parallel license, and one acfx_par_proc for each partition including the master. Look at how many par_proc licenses you have, that will determine how many partitions you can use.

Thanks, Jeff. You catch my question. It's actually the par_proc that limits the amount of CPUs that I can assign for a parallel job. I have 8 par_proc licenses in the server.
