i have to solve one 2d problem. Its cylindrical geometry. I would like to model as 2d plane (i.e. of width equal to cylinder diameter) with one cell thickness instead of using Axi symetry with theta rotation. Is my approach correct? Please give suggetions. Thank you.

I think you're on the right track. Common approach for tackling 2D problem in CFX: extrude one array of elements from a 2d plane.

Hi,

To do a 2D axisymmetric simulation, mesh a flat surface and extrude it one element for a small angle around your axis, between 1 and 5 degrees is normal. Note the width of the surface should be the radius of the geometry, not the diameter.
