Hi friends,

I am trying to calculate effective shear strain-rate (€bar) for a non-newtonian flow from shear strain-rate (&euro variable of CFX; "sstrnr". The relaton is ;

€bar = sqrt(2/3 €ij €ij) , ij are indexes

However i dont know what "sstrnr" gives? A vector or a matrix? Can anyone help me

Thanks,

Serdar

Serdar,

The variable sstrnr is simply a scalar (modulus) representation of the shear strain rate tensor. If you want to calculate a quantity based on the tensor components, you'll need to extract velocity gradients via User Fortran in CFX.

A description of the tensor and the sstrnr scalar is in the documentation.

Regards,

Johnson
