I have played with a preview of it. I was specifically looking at its ability to calculate ship waves, and it is doing a very good job of it, much better than CFX 10 or 5.7.

Have they implemented a wave function BC or is it more about fiddling with the actual free surface models?

Can cfx work with cad, does ansys model goes directly into cfx 11 integrated with PLM tools?

ICEMCFD has a nice plugin for ProEngineer which I use all the time ...

Ask your support rep for a preview. Preview 4 has been available for a while now and new capabilities were presented at the ANSYS user conference in April.

There is a lot, but new model-wise the lay of the land is something like this:

- Performance: Speed improvments on all platforms, parallel speed improvements esp for cases with GGI interface models

- Multiphase: significant free surface model numerics improvements inc coupled volume fractions (huge stability improvments), non equilibrium droplet condensation model with nucleation predicition (MOM based)

- Particle tracking: spray injection primary breakup models, spray penetration diagnostics, moving mesh support completion

- Mesh morphing: 2nd order transient conservative mass discretisation, steady state calcs, new mesh stiffness recipes, improved accuracy GGI interfaces, easier setup with GGI, mesh quality diagnostics

- Radiation: transparent radiation mode (surface to surface monte carlo), speed improvements

- Solver CEL: inside()@region function, callback functions on all mesh regions, approximate flows on non BC mesh regions, coordinate frame usage improvements

- Turbulence: SAS-SST model, Kato Launder production term mod for k-epsilon, more beta models... eg: Spallart Allmaras

- Combustion: partially premixed combustion improvments: weighted reaction progress model, spark ignition model, NOx post processing mode, new laminar/turbulent burning velocity models

- 3D Interpolation: Complete rewrite, insanely faster than CFX 10.

- Properties: IAPWS (ASME) steam equation of state, peng robinson equation of state, isentropic/polytropic- compression/expansion efficiency monitoring & post processing

- Boundary conditions: total enthalpy condition, periodic mass flow/pressure change condition, more acoustic non-reflecting boundary conditions, monopole source output for noise models, Lighthill stress output for noise models

That is not everything either...
