Hi, Friends I have to model a flow through a pipe having a porous material in it. Will any body please help me for the same? I am planning to use a source term in momentum equation to account for losses due to the porous material so what exactly should be the exact expression of the source term? Thanks Ram Dayal

You can define a Porous domain or a subdomain with Losses by setting the Permeability, the Resistance Loss Coefficient or the Momentum Source Coefficient. All these models are explained in the user-manual. F

Thanks for reply Ok I will get permeability of the porus material but I have a doubt regarding this loss coefficient is it same as friction coefficient for the porus material. And what about actual velocity and superfecial velocity. It will be great if you could explain it little bit. Thanks once again. Ram Dayal

I can't help you with the Full Porous Model, I've worked with Momentum Loss Model only, wich is quite different. The only thing I can tell you is that using the real velocity instead of superficial velocity implies that the permeability must be multiplied by the porosity, owing to the absence of flow volume reduction. Sorry. F

can any one help me out in how to determine experimentally the porous media coefficient for the specific compnent instead of using the standard one prescribed in the CFX user manual
