Profile data , how does it work?

When one imports profile data from a excel file ( which was created from CFX-post), how does CFX-pre actually read it?

1. If the mesh is unstructured, when one reads a Profile data, it is not neccessary that all the nodes at the inlet match with the nodes and their co-ordinates of this profile data. Does CFX-pre, interpolate the velocity values for the rest of the nodes that have been missed?

2. Since velocity is a vector, and we only input its scalar value from the excel file, what does CFX-pre choose as the direction for this velocity at the inlet?

Thanking You in anticipation
