when should we change max continuity loop number

hi,

Sometimes in my compressible fluid CFX10 simulations, I got msg reminding the max mach number and recommending changing max continuity loop number to 2. I am wondering, is this a number we SHOULD change to 2 if we run high speed fluid simulations or this is optional unless we have some trouble to get runs converged? And why CFX thinks there is something wrong in my simulations and give this message?

thanks a lot

Hi,

It is optional and it does not always help in simulations where it recommends to do it. Try it in your simulation and see if it helps or not.

It is generally recomended for cases with high Mach numbers and shocks where convergence might otherwise be difficult. As Glenn says, it doesn't always help, but if your case really does have shocks (as opposed to just bad initial conditions or unphysical boundary conditions) it probably will help.
