Default Turbulence Models for very low Reynolds Numbers

Hi,

I have seen a very strange situation in a paper on diffusion flame (combustion)in which the authors use a Reynolds Shear Stress model though the flow rates are very low (Reynolds Number is as low as 500).There is flow separation due to sudden expansion. Can anyone explain to me as why the authors could have used RSM in such a case?By the way, they reported use of Fluent for modeling this case.

Thanks, Sudhi

Hi,

The Reynolds number is based on what? I am no expert on combustion but could it be that the fuel supply jet is laminar but the flame is turbulent?
