momentum required to turn ship at certain radius

help !

how to modeling/calculate the required momentum to turn ship at certain radius, suppose ship velocity, propulsion, draft.., and other parameters are all known

Should use sliding meshing? if so i guess fluent may be better at this ?

Thanks a lot !

Yes, you can do it in CFX using a sliding mesh. I have done it before. It is just like an impeller in a vessel.

thank you so much !

CFX may possible sovle the free surface problem, but how CFX treat the wave behind the ship ?

should i use "SHIPFLOW" together with "DYNASIM Tug Boat" to get the answer ?

thanks.

How large do you think the effect of a wave wil lreally be. Can't you reduce the problem to a single phase with a free surface.

I do not know what you mean by SHIPFLOW and DYNASIM Tug Boat.
