Default Transient Result Exporting

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to export text files of transient results in CFX Post, but I can't seem to get it to do what I want. Specifically, I have a circular wall that has various heat tranfer coefficients at different locations at different times. I would like to export columns of time, x-position, y-position and heat transfer coefficient into a single text file. I know how to do this for a single timestep, but that's not very useful. Any help would be great.

Thanks, Greg

I think you can create a chart in CFX-post where you plot e.g. an expression as a function of time. The chart also has an option to export the results to a CSV file which you then can process in e.g. Excel.

Hope this helps.

Jorn,

I recently tried that and it doesn't seem to allow you to do it for multiple variables (i.e. anything that isn't just a function time, for instance, the heat transfer coefficient at a specific point). This just seems so basic, and I find it hard to believe that CFX-Post doesn't have this capability. Any other suggestions?

Thanks, Greg

Do it this way.

For each location of interest. Create a point. Create a chart with respect to time, plot it and then use the export option available for charts.

But you need to do this for every point. So try using the Session file. That way its all automated, and your task is much easier.

Be aware that you will have the values with respect to time only, and each file would correspond to each point.

Regards

Thanks for the info Omer. Another qn: I have a transient simulation with 100 time steps. I create expressions which I then plot vs time using the Chart option in CFX-Post. I want to create several expressions like that, but every time I create a new one, CFX-Post goes through all the transient results files. Is there a way to set this up such that CFX-Post only goes through the files once?
