CFX Post User Surface

Hi,

I'd like to create a rectangular user surface with extents defined by certain lines. It seems simply but does anyone know how to do this??

Thanks in advance,

Oli

I'm doing this sort of things defining new parts in ICEM (or whichever mesher you're using). But maybe there's away also directly in the postprocessor in this moment I don't know it!

Re: CFX Post User Surface

If it is a flat surface, just create a plane by point and normal, with the point being the center of the desired surface, and set the Plane Type to Sample (Plane Type is defined under the Geometry Tab of the Plane object). You can then specify the plane bounds to be the dimensions you desire.

If you want to create an arbitrary surface with curved edges, it cannot be done directly in Post. If you can create and mesh the surface elsewhere, it is possible to get it into Post using the User Surface format.

Hi Oli,

What is the purpose of this surface? Are you trying to extract data from a specific region or simply add geometry for visualization?

Hi all,

I try to create user surface from file. Could someone explain how the *.csv file should look like? I have already imported polylines around the contour of a building with irregular shape (in every 5m in height), so I can use their coordinates to define the user surface. My goal is to define a user surface as near as possible to the building`s surface, but the height of the user surface should be less of the building`s one.

Thank you in advance,

Rusev
