question about inflation for impeller

hello all, I am trying to apply inflation on an impeller to get smaller y+ on the walls. Here is my problem. 1) when I apply inflation only on the blades, I can see the prism clearly. 2) when I apply inflation only on shroud and hub, it also works perfectly. But, 3) when I apply inflation on all the blade, shroud and hub, I can not see any prism at all.

Any one could please tell me how to do it? Thanks in advance.

Re: question about inflation for impeller

When you apply inflation to one wall, you can see it on another wall which is connected to it at some angle.

But when you will apply inflation to both of these walls, prisms are obviously going to verlap over each other.

So how u can c them? You can get their statistics information and check whether no of prisms are more than the previous one.

Re: question about inflation for impeller

Thank you for the reply. You are right. we can see the inflation on the perpendicular wall. So, when you apply inflation to both walls, you should see the meshes around the crossing edge are dense. But that is not what I saw. How come? Thanks.

Re: question about inflation for impeller

Inflation layers do not intersect at intersecting walls, they are projected at an angle between the two faces. You can't see the inflation layer directly in the CFX-Mesh window, but you can click on the Preview folder and change the options to view the inflated front (the triangles at the end of the inflation layer) to see how far it extended into the domain, or display only the inflation layer.

If you have generated the volume mesh, you can go back to the main Meshing App window and slice through the mesh to see the interior. You can also save the .cmdb file (or .dsdb file if you are using Simulation) and view the mesh in CFX-Post.
