Parabolic Velocity Inlet
 
Hi all

I need to specify a parabolic velocity at the inlet I am using CFX 11 How can I achieve this?

Have a look at Tutorial 9: Flow through a Butterfly valve. There's a section that provided guidance on creating a profile velocity. Good luck.

If you have some extra time in hand. It is always better, to develop the parabolic profile by building a model of very long lengths, so as to avoid affect of a pressure outlet.

Look at the results. Find out where you flow is fully developed. And Export those results by creating a surface at point of interest, and exporting it as a Boundary Condition file.

Viola, now you can use this Parabolic profile ( fully developed one) as an inlet just reading it in CFX Pre.
