blocking in icemcfd

Dear All,

We have a block in icemcfd hexa that we have copied. Then we want to mirror the copied block to other locations. The problem is that when we do the mirroring, the original block that was copied is also mirrored. Is there any way one can do the mirroring such that only the copied block is morrored? Or at least, is there a way one can disassociate the original block from the copied block?

Counting on your help.

James

Hello James,

By saying that you have "copied", from where you have copied. Did you transform an earlier existing block by copying and now are you trying to mirror the copied block? If so, you can always select the blocks in transform blocks option. For mirroring choose only the blocks you need.

Hi Anantha,

You got my problem right. I have an original block that i have copied. Then i want to mirror only the copied block, not the original one. But when i select only the copied block and mirror it, the original block that was copied is also mirrored.

Is there any way one can avoid this problem?

Thanks again.

James

Hello James,

If you select the blocks right for mirroring, I expect no problems. Probably either you would have used 'select all' or earlier selection would have been there in the selection box. Make sure you pick only the blocks you want to mirror and then try.

Re: blocking in icemcfd

Hi Anantha,

I have just double checked and we are doing just what you suggested. It is still giving the same problem. Can you try it at your end and lets see? And if it does work for you, then it should be possible here too or it could be a problem with our version of ICEMCFD. We are using version 11.0. What version of ICEMCFD are you using?

So checking yours will be a good way to see whether it is something that is the way it is.

Thanks for your kindness.

James

Hello James.. I have used that many times. You can do the transform with out problem if you select the right blocks. Make sure everything is correct (selection). Still if it does not work, I feel, it's better to contact the support.

Hi Anantha,

And thanks again. We do the selection by using the box but each time we select the copied block, the original block from which it was copied is also selected. This is where our problem is. Maybe like you said, it could be bug in the programme......we will have to speak with the support team for help.

Thanks.

James
