Hi!

I made extruded 2D mesh in ICEM CFD 10.0 and I would like to use it in CFX 10.0. But I can't set boundary conditions in CFX-pre because I can't pick any surface (just complete mesh). So, what I did wrong or how can I define boundary conditions in CFX-pre.

Best regards, MareK

Sorry, I forget to say that I made *.gtm file with ICEM CFD.

Have a nice day!

What I understand is, you had a 2D mesh which you extruded & had a 3D mesh. Ok, redo this again in ICEM. But, this time do not forget to give different names to side walls & end wall which will be generated as result of extrusion. This things are there in "Extrude" command box only.

Best luck, Chirag

No GTM, export only .msh file from ICEM & import it in CFX-Pre.

Thanks Chirag for response. I have C-form mesh around airfoil and I tried what you recommended. In this case inlet, top, bottom and outlet are connected and also wing is defined as top part. So how can I get each surface separated.

Thanks one more time!

Either you can take back the model to a CAD package and get it splited, or try using the various options within the surfaces tab. You can create curves and split the surfaces.

Very true, Sans is right. If you have single surface for many objects as you said, then split it. You can either go back to CAD modeler or do it using ICEM's Boolean operations.

Best luck, Chirag

Hold on... If you have many different parts those you want to later identify in CFX-Pre, then probably mesh extrusion will not give you the mesh required. Remember, a mesh extrusion will give you 3D mesh where you will be able to have only three different surfaces those can be later identified in CFX-Pre. You got to go for some other technique, like tetra/hexa meshing. So, explore other options.

Best luck, Chirag

Extrude your mesh and give different names to the front, back and side walls.

Next hide front and back surfaces, leaving only side wall (extruded). Click on Parts in manager and Create new part, name it something like 'Inlet' and rectange-select some region of the side wall to be in this part. Create other parts same way - 'Outlet', 'PipeWall', etc.

Save file to .msh and you will get correct regions in CFX-Pre.
