Re: Negative Volume Error

Hi,

This error is common in moving mesh - I assume you do not have any moving mesh. If you have a static mesh then you either have a very poor mesh where some elements have been turned inside out (sometimes too much smoothing can do this) or the normal vectors are wrong (this is easy fixed in ICEM).

Re: Negative Volume Error

thanks but my mesh quality is fine i checked it out. and i am doin a 2d analysis as in when i am exporting from icem i am giving the z scale as 0. so basically i get a 2d structure in cfx will that be a problem???

Re: Negative Volume Error

Hi,

No that will not work and that is where the error is coming from. You need to have a finite thickness in the z direction. Also read the FAQ: http://www.cfd-online.com/Wiki/Ansys...tion_in_CFX.3F
