surface and base of cylinder

why the base of a cylinder can be recognized in CFX, but if I add a surface on the base of the cylinder, then CFX can't recognize the surface? I use ICEM-CFD to draw the geometry.

Thanks for your reply. Susan

Hi,

What do you mean by recognise the surface?

I mean I want to add the surface to be the location of inlet boundary condition in cfx, but in the location list in CFX, there isn't the surface.

if you create surface in ICEM after meshing the model.. it will not be recognisd in cfx.....

Hi Susan,

You have to define the region as a part in ICEM then CFX-Pre will recognise it. Basics like this are covered in the tutorials.
