How to extract data for contour plot?
I wanna plot vorticity contour in tecplot. Can anybody tell me the way to extract csv. or other file from cfx post which will contain the data for plotting contour in tecplot?
Thanks Farid |
Re: How to extract data for contour plot?
Export results to CGNS from the Solver Manager (Tools>Export). Note that Vorticity is not usually written to the results file. You can add it by including it in the Results output in Pre. Use you current solution to initialize the run and just run one iteration to get Vorticity in the new RES file.

You must export the coordinates x,y, and z too, to Tecplot software reads these informations and making a 3D plot (with vorticity results too)!

Re: How to extract data for contour plot?
Hi Cyclone,
I have selected the vorticity in cfx pre and got this variable in post. but after exporting this as cgns file to the tecplot i am not getting the variable vorticity under the contour selection menu. |
Re: How to extract data for contour plot?
In the Export panel, set the Output Level to '3'.
An output level of: '1' writes a small subset of basic variables such as velocity and pressure, which have user level 1. '2' writes all variables which are of user levels 1 and 2. '3' writes all variables stored in the ANSYS CFX results file. -CycLone |

Hi Cyclone,
Thanks a lot for your help. Farid |
Re: How to extract data for contour plot?
Hi Cyclone,
Can you tell me how will I get "time" under "Animate" tab in tecplot 360? I am only getting "Zones" under the " Animate" zone after loading the CGNS file. |
Re: How to extract data for contour plot?
I'm not sure how timesteps are handled. You'll need to export all of them in order to load them into Tecplot.
Why don't you use CFX-Post? -CycLone |
hey, can anyone tell me how to extract points like only for Z axis and lmited points ... and then export them to excel for graph with various parameters

Either in the solver define monitor points and extract the values at those points, or in post-processing in CFD-Post define points and export using those points.
