Default Problems with Mesh Expansion Factor

When i check my hexa-mesh in ICEM everything seems ok, but when i run the solver i see this in the Mesh Statistics:

Maximum Mesh Expansion Factor = 811.2 !

Whats the equivalent of this in ICEM? Because i can't find anything that has a value that high.

Does the mesh expansion factor have any impact on the convergence, since my simlations doesnt converge at all, i was wondering if this was the cause.

Hi,

How sensitive a simulation is to mesh quality depends on what you are trying to do, but a mesh expansion factor of that magnitude may well cause convergence problems.

In CFX-Post calculate the mesh quality parameters and use it to find the poor quality elements.

The quality variable "Volume Change" in ICEM is the equivalent to the solvers "mesh expansion ratio". Eventough they don't show exactly the same values.

Using volume change in ICEM, one can make sure that the elements volume ratios have adequate quality.
