Hi all, I am having a bit of trouble with the keyframe animation function on CFX. I have just finished some models and am post processing the results (approximately 200). In order to produce an animation I have defined the first and final keyframe in the animation box and have tried to save this as an MPeg file, however CFX apears "not to like this" and is refusing to create the file. Any ideas. Thanks Chris

I think you have to do this with each timestep. It´s so hard to do this!

Hi, that doesnt seem to work. Have added all 204 timesteps to the key frame animator andf still CFX wont save.

In the keyframe animation tab, did you check "Save MPEG" giving it some name? After that, did you play the animation?

Do you mean that you have app. 200 models?

Hi Subha, i have one animation and 204 timesteps in this model. I loaded these into the keyframe animator and clicked the save MPEG tag. When I click save however nothing apears to happen. Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,

To make a keyframe animation in Post from transient data, you should only have to add the first and last timesteps as keyframes. Then you set the number of frames under the first timestep keyframe info to the number of intermediate steps (202 in your case) and the number of frames at the last timestep to 1. That is how I do it anyways, and it seems to work just fine. Don't try to save it as an mpeg yet. Just hit play, make sure it shows up on the screen the way you want it to. You don't have to watch the whole thing, just a few slices, but be sure it is scrolling through the timesteps.

Now check the save mpeg as checkbox. Press the play button. If nothing happens, try clicking the play button again. You should get a message about overwriting a previous file. If you do not get this message after clicking the play button multiple times, then CFX-Post is not even starting the process of making a movie. You may have a problem with write privileges in that directory, or a larger issue.

Try this and then report if the .mpg file is even being created and if the animation displays properly on screen in Post. This will help us make more suggestions about troubleshooting.
