I have a quick and easy question that i guess i want to confirm. In cfx-solver, under 'monitor->forces->normal x-direction', does this represent the resultant drag force on the body? Also what is the unit of that force?

Same question applies to moment. What unit does CFX-solver uses for Moments, because the y-axis just show them as 'variables', with no units shown.

Also, under the 'monitor' option in cfx-solver, there are two kinds of forces. One is 'Normal' and another one is 'Tangential', does anyone knows the difference? I know the meaning of the word but what does it physical means when it is refered to the forces?

Hi if you want to monitor forces and moments on your body I suggest you to create a monitor in cfx pre using functions "force" and "torque". The first give you the force that fluid does on the surface long a specified direction. The second give you the moment long a specified direction. Be careful if you want the moment in y direction you have to type "torque_y()@Surface" where Surface is the area on which you want calculate the moment.

I don't know if monitors about Normal and Tangential Force and Moments give you the value you are looking for!

Hi Both,

Normal forces about X is regarded as the axial forces and that i am sure, but what i dont know is normal forces about Y and Z and also tangential forces about X, Y and Z, if you guys know anything more pls let me know as i am interested in getting radial and tangential forces but i am confused.
