meshing and geometry cleanup _urgent

dear evry one,

I am doin CFD simulation of external aerodynamics for a heavy truck.while transferin the CAD model from CATIA to ICEM as IGES or STEP file more than 1000 surfaces been generated .As i wanna generate prism layers and i need to set the prism parameters for these surface what could be the best practises for doin this.I am doin Geometry clean up in Ansa and again when u import only the geometry as IGES file im havin more surface than i simplified in ANSA.Pls do guide me.Its very very urgent.

Hi,

Yes, when you import into ICEM you get zillions of surfaces. You just have to sort them out. Consider using the direct CAD reader (you will have to pay an additional license fee for it) it usually gives a much better import for complex models. You may have to import into workbench then load it in ICEM if you want to mesh it in ICEM.

ANSYS will probably arrange a trial of the license option at short notice. Talk to your ANSYS support people.
