geometry import problems (STEP into ICEM)
Hi all,
I would like import a *.stp-file in ICEM 11. The geometry-export was done in Pro/E. Following error message comes: Reading Complete... Done. Tetin file ./*.tin does not exist. I do not use the 5.1 Step Translator. I have the *.stp-file close to C:/ and the file name is short and without any underlines. In Pro/E there are only few options for the export and I tried every combination. Please, can give somebody an advice?Thank you and greetings. Toralf |
Re: geometry import problems (STEP into ICEM)
Use SolidWorks to import, after that, save as igs file and import on icem cfd!

Re: geometry import problems (STEP into ICEM)
Hi Rogerio,
unfortunately our Pro/E cannot export in SolidWorks (*.SLDPRT). Thanks for your post. Toralf |

You could also try ACIS (.SAT or .SAB) export from ProE. What version of ProE are you using?

Re: geometry import problems (STEP into ICEM)
Hi myron,
it works. But I have used the Design Modeler. In ICEM does not work again. Mysterious. |
I had the same Problem today and it seems to be a Bug in ICEM-CFD because I couldnt open the Step-File but the guy sitting next to me could open the same Step-File without a problem....
|
Maybe try creating a new project before importing the step-file, then it should work.

Parasolid is a much more reliable format for the ANSYS products. If you can convert it to parasolid you will probably have more success.

Hi everyone... am having the same problem Tetin file Part1.tin does not exist.... except tht i did mine on catia v5r19...... can you guys help me plz
thanks apex |
Don't use step files or igs for ICEM. Even after you import them dealing with the imported geometry in ICEM is a pain. Use Parasolid, its much better. If you MUST use step or igs you can import them by forcing ICEM to use the proper .igs or .stp extensions.

it works this way.
change your working directory from C:\Windows\system32 to your local folder. Now import your step file. It won't show any error. No need of using step translator as well.:)
