FSI (with a 3rd party FEA software)?

Hi,

Does somebody know if it's possible to do Fluid-Structure Interaction with CFX and a 3rd party FEA software, for example Abaqus or MSC.Marc? And, if it is, how easy/difficult can it be?

I'm asking this because my institute doesn't have a licence for Ansys, it only has CFX and, as far as I know, those two FEA software, and I would like to have an idea of what are the possibilities of doing FSI.

Thanks,

Rui

Hi,

Yes, it is possible. It is generally done using the third party package called MPCCI which is used to couple the packages together. I am pretty sure CFX can support MPCCI.

Yes, but the last supported version was 10.0. Later versions do not contain official support.

Thanks for your answers.

But what do you mean, HekLeR, by 'no official support' in later versions?
