prism mesh in 2D

hi guys!

does anybody know, how I can generate a prism layer in 2D?

it works without problems in 3D, because you can pick a surface to set the layers on. in 2D though, there isn't anything like that... it also fails when I pick my spline to set the layers on.

I hope someone can help me ...

The easiest thing to do is use a 2D blocking with bunching, convert to a surface mesh, then extrude that.

hmm ... did that, problem is though, my geometry is too compley to block everything.

gotta be automatic, somehow...

You can build your model in 3D - then delete all of the mesh but the surface in question - and extrude that. There is always a way in ICEM - but it's not always elegant.

Also - if you have a QUAD license (for patch-based surface meshing) you can use that to mesh the surface and use 'number of layers' (I think) to build the 'prism' layers off the desired curve.
