Sub Domains

Hi, I am trying to solve a problem through CHT in CFX and i ve a temperature source which gives energy to the fluid domain. and i ve a solid domain say structural components between the source and fluid domain through which the heat transfer has to take place. can anyone please help me in defining the source. it was given in some tutorials that i ve to give the source through a sub domain. i dont ve any idea how to give the source from the subdomain. any ideas to sort out this problem.

thanks prakash

Re: Sub Domains

Does your temperature source is an isothermal temperature [K], heat flux [W m^-2], rate of energy [W] or heat source [W m^-3]? What does it mean temperature source? Is it a constant boundary condition?

Re: Sub Domains

Thanks rogerio

It is a constant BC.. nd the temperature variation ll be less that we need not take into account so i can solve using isothermal temperature source. Temperature source i mean it as energy source option in CFX for sub domains which can take temperature as a source.

Re: Sub Domains

So, u can consider a complete internal solid (sub-domain) as a full energy source in [W m^-3], isnīt it?

You can define a source term as below:

source term = { q'''[W m^-3] * H [m] } / { ro [kg m^-3] * Cp [J kg^-1 K^-1] * U [m s^-1] * (Thot [K] - Taverage [K]) } where Taverage [K] = (Thot [K] - Tcold [K])/2.

Re: Sub Domains

Thanks Rogerio, thanks for the help i ll check out with ur equation...

Can u pls tell me whether we can give both momentum change and energy source together from a subdomain.

is it creating a subdomain and giving a source from that is the only option to provide source to the main domain...

and any option is available to give a subdomain as a rotating domain..? provided main domain is not a rotating one...
