ICEM Meshing error

Hi all,

I used the "2D planar" blocking method to mesh my 2D rectangular pipe with a single indentation. When I turned on the "pre mesh" option, everything looked ok; there were quad elements nicely setup. When I clicked "compute mesh" and selected "hexa dominant", ICEM 11 gave the following error:

error orienting normals, perhaps there is more than one region error in output_region_boundaries Hex Dominant meshing failed

Just wondering how this could happen when everything looked ok in "pre mesh"? How would I fix this problem?

Thanks! CC

Re: ICEM Meshing error

You simply need to convert the pre-mesh to an unstructured mesh (this can then be written to your solver). If you right-click on Pre-Mesh you should see the option 'Convert to Unstructured Mesh'.

The hexa dominant meshing is for filling a volume mesh based on an existing surface mesh.
