it depends on of your problem. Maybe , 1 million of elements needs 1 Gb of memory ram, but itīs just for simple problems!

Hi,
Check the ANSYS webpage for hardware specifications. Also this is a CFX forum, not fluent. Not many fluent experts here. Glenn Horrocks |

Hi,
We'll need a lot more details than that before we can estimate. Even so, it is likely a modern laptop (I assume that is what you mean) will be OK as long as it is not too complicated. Regards, Glenn Horrocks |

thank you Glenn for your response, i need more explanation the lapdop have several characteristics (processor, RAM, hard disc, and finally the kind ( sumsong, tochiba, ibiem,..)that can handle calculations that last for hours. I am illiterate in this domain and the computer that I have is not powerful, if you work with the fluid mechanics software currents you can advise me what type of lapdop I need

Hi,
As fast a CPU and possible, at least 2GB ram and preferably lots more. A machine of this specification will run small jobs OK but won't be able to do anything complicated. It is also not very suitable for clustering so it does not have much capability to scale to larger jobs. Laptops are not good machines for CFD, even a moderate desktop PC is better. Unless you REALLY need the portability of a laptop I would get a desktop. Glenn |

Hi,
The Intel E8400 CPUs are very good. Pretty cheap and very fast. Not much memory, that may or may not be a problem depending on the models you are going to run. Looks OK to me. Glenn |
