Random fluctuations at the inlet boundary

Hi CFX users

How can we add synthetic turbulence at the inlet for LES case. Is there a way to impose some sort of random fluctuations at the inlet boundary? Fluent and OpenFOAM seem to have such options but I could not find any option in CFX documntation. Thank you

Does OpenFOAM have already a version for Windows XP?

Hi Rogerio

OpenFOAM runs on Linux platform. It will be much difficult (if possible at all) to install and run OpenFOAM on windows platform.

Does OF has an interface grphics or we must compile the code?

Re: Random fluctuations at the inlet boundary

Yes Foam has some interface and you will have to compile the code. If you serious about getting Foam, install CAELinux on your PC, which already has Foam and many other free softwares pre-installed in it.

Re: Random fluctuations at the inlet boundary

CAELinux , where is the site to make the download? Thanks!

"..If you serious about getting Foam..."

What does it mean, by "serious"?

Re: Random fluctuations at the inlet boundary

By "serious" I meant if you "really really wanna" install it. Foam is good for coding but if you wanna work with cfd applications, then you should be using commercial code. Anyway, here is the link:

Re: Random fluctuations at the inlet boundary

Sorry what is this file for? You can download an Iso-Image of Caelinux from the link I provided you and then burn it on a dvd. This will give you bootable dvd for OpenFOAM and loads of other open source softwares. In other words you can run these softwares from dvd with out installing them on your hard disk. If you like to install caelinux on your PC, make a partition to your hard disk and install it on your PC. You never come online Rogerio.
