swirl angle

Hi, I am trying to characterize a flow through a 1.5 stage axial compressor. To aid in my analysis, I would like to know the swirl angle as a function of the radial position (zero taken from the hub and extends upwards towards the blade tip) at various positions and or interfaces on the stage i.e., inlet of IGV, inlet of Rotor, inlet of Stator, and outlet of Stator. I have exported data and done transformations myself, but it is taking too long to process and I wanted to know if anyone knows how to determine the swirl angle within CFX-Post. Thanks

Hi,

The CFX-Post Turbomachinery macro might have something on this. Have you looked at the them?

You could easily set the swirl angle up as a scalar field using a user defined variable, defined as something like atan(Velocity X/Velocity Y).

Re: swirl angle

Thank you for your help. I did look through the Turbomachinery macro and could not find anything. Instead, I used your advice and set up a scalar field to solve for the swirl angle, but I defined it a little differently because I wanted to transform from the global coordinate system to the local coordinate system.
