FSI using CT-images - need more geometries!?

Hi all,

I have a geometry from CT-images at four different times which I want to perform a FSI-simulation on. It's 0.25 s between each geometry, and I want to get more geometries to be able to do a more realistic FSI. I have looked into tutorial 20 (check valve with 20 meshes) and it seems to suit me, the only thing I need now is the meshes.

So my problem is that I only have 4 geometries and I need 100. Is there an easy way to "interpolate" and save geometries in CFX or do I need to use an external CAD program?

Or should I do it in some other way?

Cheers Liza

I know people use the software Mimics to generate meshes from CT images for use in Ansys/CFX. I don't know if it can interpolate though.

Please, Mr. Liza, tell us about this scheme. I didnīt understand very much this methodology. Thanks

First of all, it's MISS and not MR... ;)

So, say that I have a geometery at time = 0 and one geometry at time = 0.25, 0.75, and 1.00. To be able to perform a FSI in the same way as in tutorial 20, I need meshes at time = 0.01, 0.02, 0.03 and so on, if my time step is going to be 0.01.

So I was wondering if CFX has any capabilities to perform a interpolation between time = 0 and 0.25 to get the intermediate geometries, or if I have to use another CAD program.

Or (preferably?) if I can solve my problem in another way?

Cheers Liza

Did your geometry change with the time?

Yes of course - thats why Im trying to do a one-way FSI...

Sorry, Post won't do that for you. You'll have to do it externally.

I was thinking that it might be possible in cfx pre? Or doing something with junction box routines and write new intermediate meshes?

No, Pre won't interpolate geometries. You can probably do it with the meshing API. It is still done outside CFX, though.

Ok, I'll give it a try. Thanks for your help.
