Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
Hi,
I'd like to calculate areodynamic torque of my butterfly valve. I've got only 3 datas: dimension of valve, pressure (1/3 atm) and i know that the air is releasing to the atmosphere. Can anyone help me and describe step by step what should I do? (starting with CFX-Pre) Regards! |
Re: Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
Hi,
Step 1 - Do the tutorials in CFX. There is even a flow in a butterfly tutorial problem so you might find that one particularly useful. Step 2 - Do the analysis based on what you learned in the tutorials. Step 3 - When you have more specific questions/comments about the simulation then raise a topic on the forum. Glenn Horrocks |
Re: Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
I've done a static simulation, but I'd like to simulate rotating disc. How can I initiate it? There is no option for cylindrical coords. I've red your post about making mesh diaplacement transformation, but I'dont know how exacly do it.

Re: Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
Hi,
You want to move the butterfly in a transient simulation? You are the third person I have recommended to try the mesh deformation tutorial from the CFX-Tutorial Manual this morning. Glenn Horrocks |

How can I calculate the areodynamic torque?

Re: Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
Hi,
Using the CEL functions torque_x, torque_y and torque_z. Glenn Horrocks |
Re: Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
Thanks a lot for your patience. I'd like to simulate a rotating valve (normally and rapidly rotated) and investigate a torque for this condisions . I tried mesh deformation, but the negative elemets has appeared. Maybe there is a better solutions for this problem?

Re: Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
Hi,
Put the valve is a rotating frame of reference and connect to the rest of the domain with a GGI. Glenn Horrocks |
Re: Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
There is a problem. I can't put solid valve in rotating frame (there is only stationary option). And how can I apply BS on my symmetry when I've already interface condision on it.

Re: Areodynamic torque of butterfly valve
Hi,
Are you trying to do a CHT simulation with moving mesh or RFR? Why do you need the do CHT (conjugate heat transfer)? I am not sure if this combination is supported - better talk to the support office. Glenn Horrocks |
