Additional variable

Hi Guys

I have an additional variable to implement some property through the transport equation.

I define the additional variable detail like a "Transport Equation".

I read an old post here that we should create a subdomain and define a source term for the additional variable.

Why we shoul do this? Its not enough saying that variable is a Transport Equation in fluid domain?

Thank guys

Hi,

You only need the subdomain if you are creating or destroying the additional variable inside a domain. If it is coming in at an inlet and going out an outlet (or is an initial condition and just goes with the flow from there) then you don't need a subdomain.
