Face centered or vertex centered

Does Cfx uses a cell-centered or vertex-centered finite volume approach ?

Thank you very much for the attention

CFX uses vertex-centered finite volume.

Re: Face centered or vertex centered

CFX additionally uses finite element shape functions to approximate the profile within the elements. As opposed to a cell centered discretization being applied at each face connecting two mesh vertices.

Or, maybe this is more clear:

You put solution points on the vertex and use either: a cell centered (not sure if a commercial code does this) or a FEM discretization (like CFX). Or, your solution points are at cell centroids and you use a cell centered discretization (like FLUENT for example).

Any of the methods should pretty much give the same answer under a mesh refinement and will also have similar mesh convergence...
